The Krishna and the Godavari are the major river systems in the state . The Godavari is the largest and the broadest river of south India . The Tungabhadra is an important tributary of the Krishna river . All the rivers and their tributaries are rain fad and are of great economic significane due to their rich hydropower and irrigation potential . From Srikakulam to Nellore districts the seacoast is about 1,000 kms .long.The climate is generally hot and humid .the state is generally fed by the south west monsoons . The North - East monsoons contribution about one third of the total annual rainfall.
