Madhya Pradesh

As its name defines, geographically Madhya Pradesh is the centre or heart of India. Madhya Pradesh is unique in the sense that it has no sea and no connection with the mighty Himalayas but yet it is a plateau straddled by the meandering Narmada, Chambal, Betwa and Shipra rivers surrounded by the richest tropical forests anywhere.

The magnificent Vindhay Mountains run diagonally across the heart of Madhya Pradesh. The kaimur Range turns to the north and east overlooking the Gangetic plain around Varanasi and Allahabad. The Narmada rising in the east traverses the southern edge of the great Vindhyas flows west to the Arabian sea along with the Tapti to its south . The Black volcanic soils are often visible Across The state but in some places the land is stony and inhospitable. Between Gwalior and Jhansi the Chambl river has dug deep gorges creating a badland area which dacoits have enjoyed as hideouts. One of the best parts about Madhya Pradesh is its accessibility. Bordered by seven states Rajasthan on the north -west Uttar Pradesh on the north Bihar on the east Chhattisgarh on the east Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra on the south and Gujarat on its west it its equally close to major tourist destinations in all directions.
